Both a thinker, philosopher, film historian, essayist, but also photographer and musician, Youssef Ishaghpour was born in Iran, in Tehran, in 1940, he arrived in Paris in 1958 to study cinema, And it's in Paris that he built a demanding, intellectual, thoughtful and elaborate work in solitude but also in faithful companionship with his friends, directors, writers, philosophers, artists. Friends he has left inconsolable since his sudden and unexpected disappearance. Youssef Ishaghpour also leaves behind an immense body of work to read, discover or rediscover...

First part of this tribute with the voice of Youssef Ishaghpour at the microphone of Alain Veinstein on France Culture in 2007, but also the moving testimonies of two long-time friends: the director and documentarian Pierre Samson whom he met from his arrival in Paris, and the philosopher and teacher Juliette Grange who today leads the Association of Friends of Youssef Ishaghpour.
